Personal Statement :
Teaching Philosophy I bring a lot of energy to my class. If I can't get excited about my subject, why should my students? I believe that teachers have duties to their students and that students have duties to their teachers. By their very nature, people e inquisitive. The goal of education should be to encourage this inquisitiveness, as it is in this way that we advance. I seek to facilitate this advancement of knowledge. Whether in the classroom or the general public, my goal is to encourage thinking in rational ways, so that this can be applied in other, unfamili situations In order to further encourage seeking answers to the questions ound us, I will try to encourage students to ask questions. All teachers should do so, but it is difficult to "allow the time" for this to take place, especially in a classroom setting. I think that the goal of educating college students can only be achieved by presenting them with more than lectures, note memorization tasks, and traditional schooling. In other words, an educator must move beyond the traditional model of schooling to a point at which students can len effectively. Mk Twain once said, "Don't let schooling get in the way of education." There e a number of things I will try to accomplish for my students: 1. A positive atmosphere that is conducive to lening. Students e called upon to discuss questions, but mistakes e treated as opportunities to explore misconceptions, not as a reflection of a student's abilities. 2. A window on the world and the knowledge that will help them to be successful in real life. Almost any event can be linked to the business world. 3. Access to a cing individual. I’ve been in their shoes and know that it is not easy. 4. I will give my students a sense of empowerment. I believe that anyone can do well in business if they e willing to spend the time at it. Some pick it up quickly, some need to spend more time. If I provide any value added, it is in encouraging my students to be interested enough in the subject to invest ample time. 5. I will respect my students. Students work hd, en their grades. My task is to facilitate their lening process not to judge their ability. In return, I believe students e responsible to the teacher and their fellow students and should: 1. Tolerate different opinions and respect other cultures 2. Come to class preped. 3. Actively work to complete all course assignments 4. Pticipate in class discussions to enrich the class environment and enhance lening.

I believe that each and every student has the ability to far exceed what they think they can do. They just sometimes need the help of others to reach those levels.
